Earthquake Strikes

Greece's third city was hit by an earthquake (measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale) on the 1st of March. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Akrotiri Excavation Latest

No word yet on when the site will reopen. The Minoan era excavation was closed after part of the new site roof collapsed in September 2005, killing one tourist and injuring another five. It is now certain that the site will not reopen until the new roof is fully completed - and it is anyone's guess when that will be.
