Bus and Metro Ticket Price Rise

Ticket prices have been increased by the Greek government in a bid to reduce the 600 million euro loss incurred each year by the Athenian public transport system. From February 1st there are now two types of ordinary ticket in use:

1. a 1.20-euro ticket that allows passengers to use any mode of public transport - EXCEPT the metro - for a single journey.

2. a 1.40-euro ticket that includes the metro as well and is valid for 90 minutes.

Travel to and from the Airport is NOT covered by either ticket.
